“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”1
On the night of writing this Daily Encounter there was a brilliant and extremely bright full moon shining above our home in full glory. As well we know the moon has no light of its own, but merely reflects the light of the sun. Tonight it is so beautiful that it makes one marvel at all of God’s creation and certainly brings great glory to Him.
Likewise, neither do you nor I have any light of our own but as followers of Jesus Christ we are commissioned by Jesus to let our light shine before others so that our good works will bring glory to God. We let our light shine by living in direct harmony with God’s Word in all of our thoughts, deeds and actions. In so doing, our life reflects the light of Jesus so that others can “see” Jesus in us.
Suggested prayer: “Dear God, please fill me with Your Holy Spirit to motivate and empower me to so live that my life will reflect Your light and bring glory to You always in all ways. In so living grant that others will see Jesus in me and want Jesus to be in their life as well. Thank You for hearing and answering my prayer. Gratefully, in Jesus’s name, amen.”
