A Timeless Legacy

"Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up."1

What do you want to leave to your loved ones? Maybe it's money or family heirlooms, such as a valuable necklace or a very special photograph. But if you have accepted Christ as the Savior of your life, you have something far more valuable. Material things can be spent or lost, but faith, what you believe about Jesus Christ, is precious and eternal.

Deciding to follow Christ is a personal decision, one that you cannot make for anyone else. However, through your words and actions, you can lovingly lead others to your Heavenly Father.

One way to share your faith is to talk about what you yourself have learned and experienced. For example, you can tell others that...

God will give us direction. His Word is a lamp to our feet, and a light to our path (Psalm 119:105).

God is our provider. God will provide for our needs according to the riches of His glory (Philippians 4:19).

God will empower and strengthen us, no matter what. He is a friend closer than a brother (Proverbs 18:24).

God owns everything, and we are His faithful stewards.

What Bible principles are you passing on to your family and others? Is there anything you would add to the list above?

Suggested Prayer: Dear heavenly Father, thank You for giving us specific instructions through Your Word on how to live life. Help me to pass on your principles to others and lovingly guide them to you through my words and actions. I pray in the precious name of Jesus, Amen.

1. Deuteronomy 6:4-7 (NVI).
