Preach the Word
"I solemnly urge you in the presence of God and Christ Jesus, who will someday judge the living and the dead when he appears to set up his Kingdom: Preach the word of God. Be prepared, whether the time is favorable or not. Patiently correct, rebuke, and encourage your people with good teaching. For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear. They will reject the truth and chase after myths."1
In August of last year, California Governor Brown signed the Transgender Student Bill which makes the state of California the first state to allow students from grade school through high school access whichever restroom and locker room they want—regardless of their birth gender. And what, pray tell me, does this do for the privacy of straight boys and girls? And imagine how this will be open to abuse by non-discretionary teenage boys with raging hormones? And how are parents going to protect their children from this absurdity? It is a further step in the ever-increasing moral decay of our ever- sickening political correct society. See http://tinyurl.com/k6xbdvn for more details.
What amazes me in our society today is that liberal groups such as the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender), the PC (politically correct) people, the ACLU (American Civil Liberty Union), anti-Christian and other like-minded liberal groups push and push and push until their personal desires, their perceived rights, and activities are not only accepted but given full approval regardless of their agenda so that to speak out against them one can be sued for a so-called hate crime.
But where is the voice of the Church? Have we allowed Political Correctness (which more often than not is anything but correct) to silence us? Leaders are called to "preach the Word;" that is, the Word of God.
To be genuine Christians and believers in God, we need to love that which God loves and hate that which God hates. God loves all people. He loves that which is righteous, that which is just, that which is true, and that which is wholesome. At the same time God hates all sin and all evil because it destroys those whom he loves; that is you, me, and all people.
We are called to take a stand for our Christian faith. As God's Word says, "Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. Do everything in love."2
Suggested prayer: "Dear God, thank You for Your Word, the Bible, that gives instructions for life so that all who live according to Your Word—and in harmony with your will—will learn how to fully live and fully love. Help me always to so live. Thank You for hearing and answering my prayer. Gratefully in Jesus's name, amen."
