God Thinks of You

My family took a day trip to the desert last weekend, where we spent hours in what some would consider “the middle of nowhere”. We took a hike up a mountain that led us to some wind caves. The caves where uniquely beautiful and the large holes and crevices were formed simply by the wind. As we stood at the top of the mountain and looked out into the distance, it was miles and miles of beauty. The sun was in the perfect position to make for a breathtaking scenery. I love moments like that because they remind me of God’s greatness. It reminded me of Psalm 8:3-9, which many are familiar with, which says the following:

“When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers—
the moon and the stars you set in place—
what are mere mortals that you should think about them,

human beings that you should care for them?[c]
Yet you made them only a little lower than God
and crowned them with glory and honor.
You gave them charge of everything you made,
putting all things under their authority—
the flocks and the herds
    and all the wild animals,
the birds in the sky, the fish in the sea,
and everything that swims the ocean currents.

Lord, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth!

This Psalm asks a question that many of us have probably asked; why does an almighty God even care for us? As we read through the verses, we are reminded of the wonderful truth that we are broken and sinful, yet we are created in the image of God and he cares deeply for each and every one of us. Friends, regardless of your circumstances you are loved and cared for by God. Let this be an encouragement to all of us today.

Suggested prayer: “Dear God, I am humbled thinking of how you could love and care for me even though I am broken and fail many times. Thank you for creating me, for giving me the gift of Salvation in Jesus, and for giving me the hope of eternal life in Heaven with you. I don’t deserve any of it, but you graciously and lovingly call me to you. Thank you for the beauty you allow me to enjoy. I stand in awe of you. Thank you for hearing and answering my prayer. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
