Rely On God
Now this I know: The Lord gives victory to his anointed. He answers him from his heavenly sanctuary with the victorious power of his right hand.
Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God. They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm.1
In ancient times, men relied heavily upon horses because they were powerful instruments used in battle due to their speed and strength. Their chariots were made of iron or gold and were built for speed and combat. Many times, it was the horse that helped win the battles! It’s no wonder that people trusted in this mighty animal! The problem was that, once in a while, the horse would rebel under the pressure of the whip and would refuse to run or obey the commands of his rider.
For centuries, people have tried to plan and prepare for victory in all of their circumstances without understanding that the victory has been, and will always be, determined by God. Our success comes from Him alone! He is more powerful and mighty than any creature and we can fully rely on Him to have full control over every situation. We can ask God for guidance in our work, school, and every aspect of our daily lives, and we can rely on the fact that He will hear us and answer from his heavenly sanctuary, and when His timing is perfect He will give us the victory; even when the success seems to be in our hands, God has the ultimate control, and we can trust Him for the outcome.
When we trust in anything other than the Almighty, we may stumble and fall, we may sway or turn away from our goals, we easily give up and “throw in the towel”, but God is here to remind us today that we can trust Him to be our strength; we can rise up and stand firm in His name!
Suggested Prayer: Dear Mighty Father, too many times have I sought my own successes and prepared for my own victories forgetting that it is only because of you that I am anything at all. I know that you will guide my every step as long as I rely on your strength and place my goals in your mighty hand. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
