Our Rock: Jesus Christ

"I the Lord do not change. So you, the descendants of Jacob, are not destroyed."1

Christ is the foundation of our faith, and that is a comforting truth. Let's explore the Lord's actions to learn more about his nature. The Lord Jesus....

He forgave sinners. The Lord showed mercy to those who acknowledged their sins. For example, He had compassion on the woman caught in adultery and, instead of condemning her, He forgave her sins (John 8:1-11).

He comforted those who suffered. He visited Mary and Martha, who were mourning the loss of their brother (John 11:1-45).

He provided for their needs. After spending three days healing, he became concerned that the great crowd had not eaten, and they were given more than enough to satisfy their hunger (Matthew 15:30-37).

He interceded for his disciples. Before He was crucified, Christ asked the Father to protect and sanctify His followers, which includes believers today (John 17:15-20).

He strengthened believers. In Acts 1:8, the Lord sent His disciples to share the gospel, assuring them, "You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you."

The Lord Jesus continues to forgive, comfort, provide, intercede, and empower today. Let us praise our Heavenly Father for the refuge He has given us in our Savior.

Suggested Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for your Son, Jesus, for he is the foundation of our faith. He is our Rock. Thank you that Jesus continues to forgive sinners, continues to comfort those who suffer, continues to provide for needs, continues to intercede for his disciples, and continues to strengthen believers. Thank you Lord, because without Him we would be lost and thanks to Him we have eternal hope. Thank you in Jesus' name, Amen.
