All Creation Sings

“But ask the beasts, and they will teach you; the birds of the heavens, and they will tell you; or the bushes of the earth, and they will teach you; and the fish of the sea will declare to you. Who among all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this? In his hand is the life of every living thing and the breath of all mankind.”1

My family and I recently spent a couple days visiting the majestic trees of the Sequoia National Forest. Although we’ve been there before, the magnificence of these natural statues that seem to reach the heavens always fills me with an overwhelming feeling of awe for our God. The same happens when I stand at the edge of a great canyon or on the shore of the vast ocean. When I consider the life found within each of these wonders I am reminded of how carefully God has detailed the Universe. The critters that run along the paths of the canyons, the fish that swim in the unexplored depths of the sea, the birds that make their nest in the highest branches of the tallest tree have all been created with one purpose: that they, like we, would worship and declare the Lord of all Creation.

Even more incredible is the way that each of these natural wonders, in all their enormous splendor, open their arms and graciously host even the smallest of creatures, perfectly imitating their Creator! Our God, in all His glory and majesty, takes us —small and weak— and wraps us in His embrace making us important and significant in His sight. When we consider the Omnipotence of our God we can only feel humbled by the greatness of His love and care for us, His children. All He asks in return is that we worship His Holiness and proclaim that He is Lord! All of His Creation, big and small, declares what the Lord has done. We are part of that Creation; created for His Glory. Let’s join the rest of the Universe today in praising the God who loves us and continually sees to our every need.

Suggested Prayer: Almighty God, when I look around at the wonders you have created I feel small in comparison. Thank you for wondrously creating me for your pleasure. Let me always sing your praises and allow my life to bring honor and glory to your Holiness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
