God Desires To Have A Relationship With Us

What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us. This is what we speak, not in words taught by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words.1

To have a relationship with God, we must strive to know how He thinks, and what delights or saddens Him. That is why he gave us the Bible, an inexhaustible treasury where we can learn about his thoughts, ways, and priorities. He has also given us an even greater gift: the Holy Spirit, who resides within every follower of Christ. In this way, God's very presence is always available, not only to reveal the truth of the Holy Scriptures, but also to guide, teach, and console us.

The fact that we have the mind of God on paper is great news. As sensitive as I try to be to the voice of the Holy Spirit, sometimes I fail. There are so many things that can influence my thoughts and emotions, so I need things to be explained to me clearly and directly through God's Word.

The most balanced Christians I know are those who read and meditate on God's Word every day. Let us thank God for His Holy Spirit who is always at work in us.

Suggested Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for not being distant or hidden. I am grateful for your Holy Spirit, who is always present, and for all He does to help me know You more. I pray in Jesus' name, Amen.

1.    1 Corinthians 2:12-13.
