God’s Word: A Source of Hope
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.1
From Genesis to Revelation, the Bible is inspired by God. Today’s passage affirms that all Scripture is “useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, that we may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” No other book has such value for life.
The Old Testament reveals God’s nature, ways, and power and lays the groundwork for understanding His holiness and our need for the Savior. The New Testament shows that Jesus Christ is the “bridge” to the Father through His sacrifice (John 14:6). The biblical writings explain how to live as children of God and what to expect in this life and in the life to come.
The Word of God is one of our greatest sources of hope. It is filled from beginning to end with instructions that lead to victory, both during this life and after death. That is why it is wise to set aside time each day to meditate on the Word. Whether it’s five minutes or an hour, spend time with the Father. He wants to help you understand and apply His teachings so that you can live with joy as you experience the depths of His great love.
Suggested Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that in Your Word we can find an eternal hope. I am thankful that I can find the answers to my deepest questions about life and how to live it according to Your will. What a privilege it is to be able to open Your Word every time I want to hear You and spend time with You... I can simply say, Thank you. Father, let me take advantage of the freedom I have to read and study Your Word. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
