Being Victorious

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness”. Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.¹

 

Paul learned that the secret to being victorious is to keep the perspective of God on the ups and downs of life and to depend on His power. The apostle was convinced that having the Holy Spirit living in him meant that the power of God was available to him. And it is available to us, too.

 

The first step is to believe that the power of God is in us through the presence of the Holy Spirit. We must accept that His priority is to transform us into His image, not to keep us comfortable. It is also important to diligently seek and maintain the perspective of the Lord on the problems we face (John 16:33).

 

As we adopt these truths, we can learn to depend on the power of God. The key is to submit our will to His. Then, instead of reacting to life, we will move to act on the basis of His will. Surrendering control to the Holy Spirit will help us accept the will of God for His children. When we can say, Lord, let Your will be done, then we will experience the peace that Christ promised (John 14:27).

 

Divine perspective, surrender, and firm faith is needed to live a victorious life regardless of circumstances.

 

Suggested Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, help me to maintain a divine perspective on the ups and downs of life and depend on Your power. Lord, I believe that Your power is in me through the presence of the Holy Spirit. Beloved Father, I submit my will to Yours and relinquish control to the Holy Spirit. In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen.
