Prayer

"Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective."1

God gave us the privilege of prayer so that we could not only communicate and stay connected to our Father, but also to bring our petitions to Him.

Another of his wonderful gifts is the Bible. There are thousands of promises in it, countless guarantees that we can fully trust. God wants us to learn them so that we don't miss out on the blessings He longs to give us. If we are wise, we will turn His promises into prayers and cries from our hearts.

Psalm 32:8 says, "I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you." We can pray with God's own Words, and tell Him that we believe He will teach us and reveal His way to us as He accompanies us in every situation. God is faithful, so we can trust His promises.

Speak to God with the different examples in His Word. Jesus modeled prayer for us during his time on earth as well. You can use the prayer below or whatever He puts on your heart as you read Psalm 37:3-6.

Suggested Prayer: Heavenly Father, may your desires be mine. Increase my longing for your will to be done and help me obey and be an active participant in it. I pray in Jesus' name, Amen.

1.    James 5:16 (NIV).
