Walking Wisely
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil.1
To live committed to the Lord requires us to be guided by his wisdom. Let's look at the attitudes needed to live a Christ-centered life.
Determination. Walking wisely does not happen automatically. We must wholeheartedly seek a righteous life.
Focus. To stay in the way of God's will, we must fix our attention on His Word. As we meditate on the Holy Scriptures, our minds will align with Christ's.
Sensitivity to the Spirit. By choosing to live in holiness and heeding the Bible, we become more sensitive to the voice of the Holy Spirit.
Confidence. Sometimes, the Lord's decision for us doesn't seem logical. But trusting in His perfect wisdom is necessary if we are to follow His plan.
Bravery. Sometimes God requires us to do things that make us afraid. But as our trust in Him deepens, our courage grows, and we feel joy in accepting His plan.
Perseverance. By depending on God, we can persevere and make wise decisions no matter our difficulties.
Walking wisely requires us to know God, trust Him, and obey Him. Is this your pattern of life?
Suggested Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, help me to walk wisely according to Your Word and Your will. I want to live a committed life with you. Sometimes the distractions of everyday life tend to throw me off focus, but I also have a guide I can turn to when I feel lost and directionless… Your Word. Father, help me persevere in You and to depend on You at all times. I pray in Jesus' name, Amen.
