The Walk of Faith
"And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God ask of you but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to observe the Lord’s commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good?”1
The Bible often calls the Christian life a "walk." It speaks of walking in the Spirit, in the ways of God, in love and in truth. Our life, then, should not remain stagnant, but develop so that we can become more and more like Christ.
If you feel like you are going backwards instead of forwards, here are five steps to keep moving forward on the "walk of faith."
1. Know that God keeps every promise. The Bible contains a surprising number of assurances for believers, including wisdom, God's presence, and peace.
2. Wait for the Heavenly Father's response. In other words, have the expectation that your faith will lead you to blessings.
3. Be aware every day of the presence of God in your life. As you spend time in His Word and in prayer, you become sensitive to what the Lord is doing.
4. Pray boldly. Approaching the Father in this way is not arrogant confidence. Rather, it is an overflow of your safety in Him (Hebrews 4:16).
5. Obey the guidance of the Holy Spirit. God sent His Spirit to teach and guide every believer (John 14:17 and 26).
God is faithful and promises to be with His children throughout their lives.
Suggested Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you that I am not alone in my walk of faith. Although I have felt lonely at times, You remind me through Your Word that You are always with me. It is a promise and You are faithful. Help me, Father, to be aware of Your presence every day. Thank You, Lord, for Your company, Your help, and for Your faithfulness. In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen.
