The "Gaps" To Be Filled By God
"Now Sarai, Abram’s wife, had borne him no children. But she had an Egyptian slave named Hagar; so she said to Abram, ‘The Lord has kept me from having children. Go sleep with my slave; perhaps I can build a family through her’."1
Has God given you a vision that has not yet been fulfilled? Have you been assigned a task that remains unfinished, even though you've tried your best?
The "gaps" the Lord creates in our lives are designed for His specific purposes. Sometimes they are meant to prepare us for their response. There may other necessary components of the plan that need to be taken care of first. Perhaps a delay is meant to test our faith and prove to us that He is trustworthy. Or He may be using a pause as an occasion for correction.
It is always wise to wait on the Lord as He prepares us for His answers. We must pray and trust God, not acting until we are sure that we have heard from Him and Him alone. Even people with good intentions can get it wrong: look at Abram's situation after listening to his wife's seemingly sound logic. The result was that Sarai's servant, Hagar, conceived a son of Abram, which was not part of the Lord's plan.
Trust the Holy Spirit as you decide how to proceed, any other course of action can have serious and lasting repercussions.
Suggested Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, help me to wait with patience, wisdom, and hope. You have the wisdom about this that is far beyond mine. I thank You for working in me during this time to strengthen my faith. I pray in Jesus' name, Amen.
