“This
is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.”1
Mondays often get a bad rap. It
is the beginning of a new work week, the kids are back in school, our routine
goes into full swing once again after the weekend. For some, you may be going
through difficult times and are finding it hard to keep going. For others,
there may be some important decisions that need to be made. No matter what the
circumstances… God is in the midst of it all! Each day we have the privilege of
waking up to, is a new opportunity God is giving us to make an impact for Him.
It all depends on our attitude. Warren Wiersbe said the following:
“Nothing
paralyzes our lives like the attitude that things can never change. We need to
remind ourselves that God can change things. Outlook determines outcome. If we
see only the problems, we will be defeated; but if we see the possibilities in
the problems, we can have victory.”
Even
in times of great pain or challenges, we have the possibility of having a
positive impact by our trust in God and believing that He is in control. Our
attitude, even in trials, can give hope to someone who desperately needs it.
Instead
of dreading waking up to a new week, I encourage you to embrace an attitude of
gratitude. God gave us this day, so let’s choose to rejoice and be glad in it.
The choice is ours.
Suggested
prayer: “Dear God, thank you for the gift of life. Even in the midst of day-to-day
stress and responsibilities, I choose to have an attitude of gratitude and make
it a good day. Allow me to not take for granted the opportunities you give me
to serve others through kindness, encouragement, and being a reminder of the
hope and peace, we can find in you. Thank you because in you, I can look past
the problems I may be facing and proclaim victory because you are in control.
Thank you for hearing and answering my prayer. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
