I read how a missionary to the American Indians was in Los Angeles with an Indian friend who was a new Christian. As they walked down the street, they passed a man on the corner who was preaching with a Bible in his hand. The missionary knew the man represented a cult, but the Indian saw only the Bible. He stopped to listen to the sermon.

“I hope my friend doesn’t get confused,” the missionary thought to himself, and he began to pray. In a few minutes the Indian turned away from the meeting and joined his missionary friend.

“What did you think of the preacher?” the missionary asked.

“All the time he was talking,” exclaimed the Indian, “something in my heart kept saying, ‘Liar! Liar!’”

Everyday, we are surrounded with different religions, personal opinions, people promoting “political correctness”, even “Christian” groups are trying to convince us that what God considers evil is good. The problem with listening to lies for so long is that, if we are not careful, we can begin thinking they are true! For this reason, it is more important than ever to remain steadfast in God’s Word and seek His Truth above all else. God’s Word is clear and gives us detailed instructions and information on every aspect of life, but it is our responsibility to study His Word and be prepared for anything that comes our way. May our desire to honor and obey God always be greater than the temptation to fit in with this world.

Suggested prayer: Dear God, thank you for Your Word that is a light unto my path. Give me discernment and help me recognize the lies around me that Satan is trying to use to cause confusion and lead people astray. Help me stand strong, always in Your truth, and shine Your Light for others to see. Thank you for hearing and answering my prayer. In Jesus’ name, amen.
