When you go through times of testing, what is your first reaction? Do you want to run away from it? Although that is a normal feeling, God’s way is different. It is not the trials of life that strengthen or destroy us, but our reaction to difficulties. So how should we react when the difficulties are overwhelming? 

First, trust in God. He wants His children to believe His Word and value how faithful He has been in the past. He assures us that He puts limits on our trials and enables us to endure them (1 Corinthians 10:13). 

Second, persevere. Even when we don't understand, and the pain seems too great, we shouldn't give up. We must continue to seek the Lord through His Word and prayer. 

Third, we must remember that the Lord is in control. He allows adversity for a reason and demonstrates His sustaining power in the midst of it. Although pain may feel intolerable, God will never abandon us. The Bible compares our growth to gold, which is refined by fire (1 Peter 1:7). 

We will encounter difficulties and sometimes we will go through trials that will seem excessive. However, we can trust our Heavenly Father to deliver and guide us in ways we could never imagine. He doesn't expect us to struggle alone, but He does want us to have faith. 

Suggested Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, I pray that in the midst of difficulties, you will remind me that you are with me. Help me to trust and persevere completely in you, knowing that you are always in control. Help me remember that you are always here to guide me. I pray in Jesus' name, Amen.
