We've all done things we wish we hadn't done. Things that have caused us pain or have caused pain to others.

We have said things that we wish we could retract. We've spent money on things we wish we'd never bought. We have made important decisions without listening to wisdom or reason.

However, we cannot allow our mistakes to disqualify us from God's call on our lives. The truth is that sometimes we are our own worst enemies. We allow ourselves to be crushed by the weight of guilt and then we wonder why we don't live a light and free life. It is obvious that we cannot pretend that we did not do the things we did... But there comes a time when we must leave the past behind.

God does not reproach us for our mistakes. What's more, He's quick to forgive! When we confess our sin to Him, the Bible says He is faithful and just...He forgives us! (1 John 1:9). He puts us back on course to fulfill His purposes for our lives.

Aren't you glad that we serve a forgiving God? Every day we get up to experience His love, despite our mistakes! Now that's something to smile about.

Today, thank God for His forgiveness, and commit to living a life free of guilt and focused on fulfilling His purpose for your life.

Suggested Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You that in Your Word it says that there is no condemnation for those of us who are in Christ. Lord, I want to abide in you. When the enemy reminds me of my past mistakes, help me remember that You have already forgiven me and that You do not reproach me. On the contrary, You love me, accept me, and help me to live a life according to Your will. I am free in Christ. Thank you! In Jesus' name, Amen.
