I no longer call you
servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have
called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made
known to you.1
Friendship was God's
fine design from the beginning (Genesis 2:18). In fact, most of us can say that
sharing life with others makes good experiences more pleasant and difficult
times more bearable. Which is true even if friendships sometimes do not meet
our expectations. Imagine a perfect friend: someone who always listens to you
and is available, who never lets you down, and who does everything for your
good. That's Jesus. As you spend time with Him, you will begin to recognize
the privilege of being His friend.
Jesus is that friend
who:
- Accepts us as we are, but also transforms us.
-
Is never too busy for us.
-
Speaks to us through his Word.
-
Listens when we pray.
-
Forgives us again and again.
-
Understands our weaknesses.
-
Walks with us in testing.
-
Meets all our needs.
-
Directs our ways and thoughts.
-
Knows us better than anyone.
-
Encourages us throughout life.
-
Is patient when we are weak.
-
Guides our spiritual growth.
-
Always tells the truth.
-
Never deceives us.
-
Never misunderstands us.
-
Never disappoints us.
-
Never rejects us.
-
Always keeps his promises.
-
Wants the best for us.
-
Loves us unconditionally.
-
Gave his life for us.
-
Has a place for us in heaven.
-
Will spend eternity with us.
Let's celebrate
these wonderful promises!
Suggested Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the honor of knowing Your Son as my Savior,
my Lord, and my Friend. Thank you for the blessing of being able to turn to Him
at any time. Thank You for each of Your promises. In Jesus' name, Amen.
