Do you not know? Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will
not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength
to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and
weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will
renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and
not grow weary. They will walk and not be faint.1
Burnout is a byproduct of overloaded
schedules and endless responsibilities. That's not what our Father wants for
us. He offers a radically different way of life and gives his children renewed
strength.
Those who wait on the Lord are
promised supernatural energy and the endurance of young people (Isaiah
40:29-30). Contrary to what we might think, access to this power is achieved
not by going faster, but by going slower: by taking the time to focus on God,
seek His direction, and ask for His strength to accomplish what He calls us to
do. There is no earthly explanation for what God is willing and able to
accomplish in and through a surrendered human being. His Holy Spirit is like a
powerful and refreshing gust of wind that allows us to soar like eagles (Psalm
103:5)
The next time you find yourself on the
verge of exhaustion, take some time to focus on the Lord. Are you in tune with
Him? Align your pace with His, taking time to rest when He wants you to, and
receive the energy that the Lord freely offers to those who desire to do His
will.
Suggested Prayer: Dear Heavenly
Father, I am amazed at how much You love us and how through Your Word You leave
us clear and precise instructions of what You want for our lives. Thank You, my
beloved Father, that You promise to renew our strength as we wait on You. Thank
you that in you we find strength and hope to overcome the challenges of
everyday life. O Lord, thank You for Your faithfulness, in Jesus' name, Amen.
