For I know the plans I have for you, says
the Lord. They are plans for good
and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.1
We all
have a purpose in this world. God knows where and what that purpose is. We
might have our own plans and our own purpose in mind, but God might want us to
leave what we are planning and accept what He has in store for us.
God wants
us to follow Him. If we do not trust God completely and accept Him into our
hearts, we may feel scared and afraid of the path ahead of us. But as
Christians we can be sure that, whether the path is easy or difficult, God will
walk with us every step of the way because He loves us and knows what is right.
Jonah was
afraid to go to Nineveh. Although he loved and trusted God, the Ninevites did
not. Jonah was afraid because he did not understand the plan God wanted him to
follow and decided to make his own plans. When Jonah chose not to follow God’s
plan, he found himself in a lot of trouble. That could happen to us as well if
we do not obey the plans God has for us, and choose to go our own way. Accept
Jesus and the plans He has for you today. His plans are good, perfect, and
meant to give us a future full of hope.
Suggested
prayer: Dear God, thank you for giving me purpose, and for making a way for me.
Please fill my heart with a desire to obey your plan for me, because your way
is the right way. Help me to understand that whatever you say goes. Help me not
to fight or dishonor you. You are the One we should listen to no matter what. I
love you and praise you. In Your Mighty name, Amen.
